The price of Corian depends on the style and size. Whether it’s expensive or not also depends on what context. Compared to other stone worktops such as granite and quartz, Corian can be quite cost-effective.

What’s The Difference Between Quartz and Corian Worktops?

Quartz and Corian are very similar products, so it’s easy to confuse the two. Both are artificial, but Quartz is more natural. Quartz is a type of engineered stone, which is comprised of over 90% quartz crystals blended with resin. Corian is typically comprised of around 66% minerals and 33% binding resin. For this reason, Quartz tends to be more hardwearing and costly than Corian.

Is Corian Cost Effective?

Does Corian Scratch or Damage Easily?

Corian is chip and damage resistant but should be protected from items that could easily scratch the surface, such as knives and pans. Always use a chopping board when cooking, and place pots and pans on a board or trivet to protect your work surfaces.

Is Corian Heat Resistant?

Defining and determining ‘heat resistance’ depends on the type of Corian product you choose and the heat resistance you are looking for. Corian’s Solid Surface product can resist temperatures of up to 100°C – so splashes and relatively hot items making temporary contact won’t be an issue. But you will need to avoid placing hot pans, pots, utensils and food items directly on the surface, or exposing them to a naked flame, as this will cause damage.

Is Corian Heat Resistant?

Corian is suitable for an exciting range of applications – including kitchen, bathroom and utility projects from worktops to splashbacks. Unlike other quartz products, it is not recommended for outdoor use as although it is durable; the colour may fade with excessive exposure to sunlight.
